Mechanical Trainee [Australia]

Over our 4 year program undertaking Advanced Diploma Engineering - Mechanical you will have the chance to learn the technicalities of your trade at school and then apply this to a supportive environment whilst you learn on the job. What can you expect?

Working in our Technical & Weapon System department you will gain exposure to Naval Weapons and Radar Mechanical Systems. During this traineeship you will gain experience in:

  • Assisting with the repairs, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems in surface and sub-surface Naval vessels

  • Assisting with the fault analysis of commercial and Military mechanical weapons equipment and systems

  • Carry out repairs to mechanical systems

  • Assisting in installation of all types of Naval equipment in shore and ship borne environments

Whilst we focus mostly on a great attitude and willingness to learn, here are a few key attributes you must bring to the role:

  • Completion of Certificate III (we accept various previous trades from automotive, diesel mechanic to fabrication and fitting)

  • Demonstrated mechanical and/or technical aptitude

  • Great communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
