About us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the role

The General Manager leads the strategic planning and implementation of the Drug Court model ensuring all locations operate consistently and that the program evolves in light of program evaluation and current research into effective drug and alcohol interventions and best practice in Drug Courts.

Critical to this role is high level expertise in managing multi-disciplinary teams across all sites to ensure high quality service delivery and effectively lead from the front, build and maintain collaborative relationships with essential stakeholders including local communities, service providers, and government to ensure a coordinated response with to achieve targeted, high quality outcomes for drug court clients and the Victorian community.

About you

  • Experience leading a high performing, multidisciplinary team
  • Proven strategic management expertise including fiscal responsibility
  • Experience or understanding of solution focused courts and therapeutic program delivery within the justice system
  • Tertiary qualification in law, psychology, social work, health or related field and/or significant work experience in a similar field is desired.
