I2L Research Ltd are a successful and leading provider of scientific services and technical support to the crop protection industry and are looking to recruit a Biopesticides Trials Officer at our Newcastle office.
Ideally, we want to hear from candidates with a scientific background and/ or previous agricultural field trial and farming experience. However, training can be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities will include:
- Establish and manage agricultural trials in field, glasshouse and polytunnel conditions including planting, sowing and managing crops
- Liaising with local growers and farmers to manage agricultural field trials
- To assist in the application of plant protection products as required
- Assess the effects of agrochemicals, and other agricultural inputs, to trial plots (insect counts, disease cover, plant quality)
- Data input (Excel)
- Data analysis, interpretation and report writing
- Undertaking any other daily activities in accordance with company standards and needs
Skills required
- Candidates should have a relevant scientific background and/ or some previous agricultural and farming experience
- Knowledge of biopesticides and crop pests- and diseases
- Understanding of IPM, EPPO guidelines and GEP is advantageous
- Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
- Computer skills are important (ideally Excel, ARM, MS Word)
- Must have excellent organization skills and the ability to work remotely and independently when required to specific deadlines
- Must be motivated, energetic and enthusiastic, able to work on own initiative, and as part of a team when required
- Must have a full driving licence
- PA1 and PA6 pesticide training is advantageous, but not essential

Permanent / Full time, 35 hours per week / competitive remuneration and will commence as soon as possible.
